Android Auto and Apple CarPlay Win as Per AAA
Looks like there’s an ongoing war to create an all-around awesome infotainment system. And the winners seem to be Google and Apple, as per AAA’s new research. The union ran a research putting Android Auto and Apple CarPlay head to head with the regular infotainment equipment installed in some of the vehicles today. Some of the cars used in the study were a 2018 Ram 1500 Laramie, 2018 Chevy Silverado, 2017 Ford Mustang GT, etc. Every car could operate both smartphone-based systems and overall, those were less difficult and therefore less disrupting than the OEM infotainment units. AAA also discovered that when making a call, the phone systems took 24% less time or roughly 5 seconds less than the OEMs, and 31% less time or roughly 15 seconds when navigating. Such fascinating verdict from this research is that, in total, both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are approximately equivalent when it comes to ease of use.
