Jaguar Land Rover Data Breach Exposes Staff Records & Future Downsizing Plans
A recent huge data leak has exposed the personal records of hundreds of staff at Jaguar Land Rover’s Solihull plant. The records show private information like sick days used, disciplinary cases and most noticeably some red lines showing future layoffs in the coming weeks or months. Overall, the private documents of 600+ employees were leaked. JLR is trying hard to manage the crisis. The leak was initially broadcasted by the Huffington Post UK—with the British car manufacturer first denying and instead saying it was “fake news.” This PR disaster was especially devastating for staff looking at their names with a red strikethrough line across it. Just last month, JLR mentioned they would be firing about 1,000 staff at their UK plants. Owned by Tata Motors, JLR has been experiencing plunge in revenue, especially in its home market.
