Mercedes-Benz Launches Zero-Emissions Electric Vans
Mercedes-Benz is providing more project details about their electrified cargo vans. And it looks like its battery-electric eVito shall be up for grabs this fall; to follow is the bigger eSprinter van by next year. They’re also launching a concept fuel-cell version of the 2nd big van for longer-range purposes. The eVito is meant for city deliveries, tradespeople and or service mechanics and will come in 2 wheelbase lengths: 202-inches (2,365 lbs maximum payloads and cargo volume of 19.7 cubic feet) and 211-inches (2,310 lbs and cargo volume of 21.7 cubic feet). The eSprinter will be available in 2 battery options: 41 kWH battery w/ 71.5 miles of range and a 55kWH w/ 93 miles of range, completely charged in 6 and 8 hours respectively or 80% charged in 45-minutes using a DC fast charger. Total gross vehicle weight is 7,716 lbs w/ payloads of 2,293 lbs and 1,984 lbs respectively. The German carmaker is also planning to sell a smaller van, the eCitan sometime in the future.
