Tesla Semi Spotted on its 1st Cargo Trip
Although Tesla won’t begin building the new Semi until 2019, they’re taking advantage of commercial clients and setting up Semi test trucks to work. Just recently, Elon Musk posted to Instagram an image of 2 Semis doing their 1st ever production cargo run. These Semis were delivering battery packs from the Gigafactory in NV to the carmaker’s factory in Fremont, CA. The trip runs roughly 260 to 270 miles when on a main freeway—fairly manageable distance for the truck. Tesla is going to have a Semi with a 300-mile ability and a 500-mile as a pricier version. The Semis reportedly can hit 0 to 60 miles per hour in just 5 seconds when it’s unloaded.
